A message from Alwaleed bin Talal
In gratitude and for the sake of Allah Almighty and the Hereafter, I am pleased to announce the commencement of the completion of the Alwaleed Philanthropies project to provide 100,000 homes, which is part of the development housing project, and to provide 100,000 cars, so that the total number of beneficiaries will be 200,000 Saudi citizens, both male and female, within five years. Through this talk, I would like to share with you the reasons for my interest in these projects in particular. Alwaleed Bin Talal
The first project: Completing the previously committed to providing 10,000 housing units that will benefit ten thousand Saudi families, or an average of 60,000 Saudi citizens, as the average number of individuals in a single family in Saudi Arabia is around six people, who are not subject to the Ministry of Housing system. Our work is a contributor and complement to solving the burden of the housing problem and not an alternative solution to the Ministry of Housing project, as 1,240 housing units have been previously distributed, from which 10,558 male and female citizens benefited according to the statistics of beneficiaries when the housing was distributed to them. To complete the distribution of this project, we will proceed - God willing - on a fixed strategy, the distribution mechanism of which will be announced through the electronic portal of Alwaleed Philanthropies, where 83 housing units will be distributed, accommodating 500 beneficiaries per month, i.e. an average of 1,000 housing units per year, benefiting at least 6,000 male and female citizens. The second project: Providing 10,000 cars distributed at a rate of 1,000 cars per year for each needy family, with this project to be implemented over ten years, as 83 cars will be distributed monthly, and the launch of each of the two projects will be announced through my personal Twitter account, "God willing", and as for the conditions and mechanism of distribution, they are available through the electronic portal of the Alwaleed Philanthropies Foundation, noting that there is no connection between the two projects, as it is not necessary that those who benefit from the first project will benefit from the second project, and it is not necessary that those who benefit from the second project will not benefit from the first project, as each project is independent from the other and has its own conditions and distribution mechanism. You may be wondering: Why these two projects in particular? I say: My direct connection with my brothers and sisters from the Saudi people and my knowledge of the financial and social distress that some of them are suffering from is through my communication with them via Twitter, as Twitter includes the feature of delivering messages directly between me and the citizen without an intermediary. Let us be clearer, what worries many Saudi citizens today is: "securing housing", which constitutes the largest burden on the family budget, especially since most Saudi families are young, small families, and their incomes are still at the minimum level of living, as young people constitute the majority of the Saudi people according to the latest official census of the population of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The head of the family has two options to secure housing: (owning a home or renting). If he chooses to own a home, he will inevitably fall under the burden of debts and installments that exhaust his budget, and he will not have enough income to achieve his future dreams. If he chooses to rent, the rent will deduct the largest part of his income. But if the care of the family is entrusted to a divorced woman, or to a widow or mother of orphans, the burden on her will be doubled, because her remaining with her children in the care of another family - no matter how charitable that family is - increases her suffering and the suffering of her children, as you know from the humiliation of orphanhood and need. Therefore, securing (independent) housing is an important factor of stability for every family - on the one hand - and on the other hand, it constitutes a strong tributary to the family budget, as the family saves through this project what was deducted from its budget to secure housing, which constitutes an additional return for it and a second income that contributes to raising the standard of living. With this project, we have secured stability and independence for the family, and achieved an additional income for the family budget that contributes to achieving many hopes and aspirations for its members. As for talking about the second project, which is "car insurance": A family that does not have its own means of transportation and relies on rented means of transportation for its movements, there is no doubt that it will spend a large part of its budget on transportation, as car insurance saves those amounts spent on transportation, which increases the family's income, as I previously mentioned in the first project. It is no secret that many of the complaints of citizens, especially female citizens, that I hear were about the heavy expenses of transportation, and to be more honest, the expenses of (limousines), and from here comes the importance of this project. I conclude this message by emphasizing that what God has given me of money is only by His grace and generosity, and it came to me in this dear country, which is the most precious place in which one can give and to its people, in recognition of the favor and seeking the face of God and the Hereafter, without neglecting those who are in need of support and assistance outside the borders of this dear country. God Almighty said: "And whatever good you send forth for yourselves, you will find it with God. It is better and greater in reward" (Al-Muzzammil 20). I ask God to accept that from me and from everyone who contributed to the success of these beneficial charitable projects, and may God’s prayers and peace be upon our master Muhammad and his family and companions, and may God’s peace, mercy, and blessings be upon you.
